About the Principal and the beginnings of Firm Foundation .
Mrs. Sarah Justus has been in the Day care industry for 31 years.
Her career began at the Lady Buxton emergency home where she worked with the children full time and trained simultaneously.
During her own children's early years, Sarah worked as a day mother caring for a small group of children in her home.
In 1988 Sarah was approached by Vincent Pallotti hospital and asked to set up a daycare centre on their premises. This she did, and the school - known as Abacus educare, flourished. Sarah did not really enjoy the commercial nature of the crèche, and missed the personal touch of a home based centre.
In 1992 The Justus family decided to sell up and move to the country.
This (disastrous) sojourn to Greyton lasted precisely 8 months and the family was back before the end of the year.
This was the start of Firm Foundation which began with only 6 babies. As the years went by the school grew from strength to strength.
It moved to its current premises in 1995.
Ivan and Sarah were blessed with two surprise laatlametjies when their first two children were well into their teens. So the family now has two school age children Michaela aged 13 and Jacob aged 10 - while Nicki (28) and Daniel (26) are essentially off her hands.
Firm Foundation is now into its 19th year and although it is much bigger than it was at the beginning, it has retained its cosy environment and is still a home away from home for all the happy little people who spend their days here.
